Model making

In the RC model construction, individual systems such as flaps or rudders are moved by so-called “servos”. A rotating disc (approx. +- 60°) is responsible for the output in which the connection of a Bowden cable or a rod is mounted. In real life, electrical, mostly hydraulic or pneumatic linear actuators realize the articulation in airplanes, ships, cars and trucks. Because the “servos” also optically do not correspond with the original actuators, they are installed, hidden inside the body. To compensate this deficit, electrical versions have been developed in miniature form: They show a linear movement and its design comes close to the original, so that they can be visibly installed at the point where they really are. During the phase of development, it became clear that the crux was the guide of the plunger, which is exposed to relatively high forces. The solution: An iglidur® plain bearing with collar. The new linear actuators are successfully on the market since the beginning of 2016.
